PRObiotics get a lot of press coverage. But PREbiotics are less well reported on. But you need prebiotics to feed your good gut bacteria. As we said in our previous email, The Guts UK charity describes them as the fertiliser for your gut. And it’s so true. If you want a thriving gut microbiome then you need prebiotics in your diet.

Awareness

How can you get more of something unless you know what you’re looking for? Prebiotics are in a wide range of foods and can be included in your diet from breakfast through to dinner. Being aware of what’s in your food is the easiest step to creating happier gut. The combination of hand-picked prebiotic inspired ingredients and magazine in our boxes are designed and partnered to help you improve your awareness of food and health every month.

Easy swaps

If you don’t have time, or simply can’t be bothered with learning a whole new range of meals (at the moment), then simple ingredient swaps can be an easy one to stick to. In the January box we share a couple of easy cupboard swaps including a delicious and versatile rice. Rice – boring! Not at all, this rice packs a punch when it comes to fibre prebiotics. It’s made from 100% organic lentil flour and can be used as you’d usually use normal rice. One swap – a massive increase in food for your good gut bacteria. Easy peasey lemon squeezy.

Prioritise your shopping budget

Quality food costs more money than most processed foods. That’s the perception – and more often than not the reality. There are some easy ways to save money such as buying fruit and veg loose and without packaging and making use of dried, frozen or tinned veggies, but other items can be seen as expensive. By trying a range of products in our boxes you can decide which ones you might want to buy again and which you’d spend your money on as part of a weekly shop. If you’re not sure how to prioritise your food shopping choices based on prebiotic ingredients then our ongoing meal planning info and features will help you.
