Did you know that white kidney beans contain almost double the fiber when compared to their more popular red friends.
Red kidney beans have gained popularity, I guess because they’re a bean often listed in recipes such as chilli con carne. But when I was in the shops the other day, I thought I’d take a look at the fiber content of the white kidney beans which were sitting right next to the red ones. And wow.
The red kidney beans had 4.3g of fiber per 100g. The white kidney beans contained 8g of fiber per 100g. A massive difference.
I then spent the next 15 minutes picking up other tins of beans. More on that in future posts. The kidney bean comparison shows that it’s worth those 2 seconds of effort to check and compare similar foods.
